Saving Money is Making Money. You may have heard the saying “You can’t “outwork a bad diet”; finances are similar. Before launching your creative new side hustle, it makes sense to sit down and look for opportunities to reduce unnecessary expenses. You're young. You have a lot of years ahead of you. Now is the time to take risks. Invest in higher-risk, higher-payoff stock opportunities. Consider quitting your job to start your own business. Jump on new ventures and new opportunities. If things go south, you'll have plenty of time to make up for it. Most wealthy individuals will tell you one of their greatest keys to success has been taking calculated risks. The majority of the population sticks with the safe route, so if you want to break away from the pack, you have to try something new, possibly something uncomfortable.
In order to succeed, you need people to know about you and your business. They need to see the hard work and understand your mission statement. And the best way to get the word out (for cheap) is to already have a laundry list of contacts up your sleeve before hand. This means that you need to constantly be on the lookout for contacts and connections that could help you in the long run. Attend networking events and conferences where you can meet up with like-minded people, share goals and ambitions, and connect for the future.

That means you need to default to action and identify the opportunities where you can help your team and go find ways to solve those problems.”

Keep your utilities low, and watch the money you save start to mount.
In realistic scenario you can start saving your money in your early 30s. That gives you 30 years until retirement. The average yearly return rate you can realistically achieve is around 6 %. To have a million at these assumptions, you need to save $1, 000 every month to have a million dollars at your retirement. Interestingly, if you start saving 5 years earlier, you only need to put aside $700 each month.
If you have a knack for organization, you can make money online as a virtual assistant helping people to keep their days in order. A virtual assistant will do everyinthing from bookkeeping to research, database entry, booking travel, and managing email. It can also be an awesome way to rub shoulders with some very important people, build up your professional network, and of course grow another stream of income. But once you’re in your home office—alone, every day—you might start to miss that collegial camaraderie. Since the UPS incident, I’ve reached out more to colleagues via IM and will post cute pics of my new puppy for my colleagues to see on Yammer. And when we’re on deadline, we even (gasp!) talk on the phone. It’s helped tremendously to make the disconnect not feel so severe. It’s a good balance between having peace and quiet when you need it and much-needed interaction with others, too.
